Judges 19:1-21:25

The end of the book of Judges for me is dark, full of morally bankrupt ways of thinking and living. Everyone had their own agenda and doing as they pleased. Sounds familiar to me.....
v25"Everyone did what was right in their own eyes."
When left to our own devices and without direction from God, our lives can just as easily become morally and spiritually bankrupt.
Thankfully we have God's Word, and it is filled with life lessons regarding any subject we seek answers to, and I have so many to learn.
Matthew 7:7-8  7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
This verse was a hard lesson to learn for me, and I am still learning. When I was a young child I remember praying so hard for my mother's illness to be taken away from her, I was seeking an answer. When my prayer was not answered, (at least not to my liking), I became so angry with God.
After that, my life started a downhill spiral. I had my own agenda and my own devices and became morally and spiritually bankrupt. I was raised in the church and knew right from wrong, but could not see past my hurt and anger and felt so betrayed by God! I felt my behavior was justified!
In short I am lucky to be alive, and it is only by the grace of God that I am! It was not until years after she died, (which I was 21 at the time), that I began seeing His plan. How could I even compare what He did for me?

Imagine paying the ultimate price for our sins in the name of your Father? The pain and suffering He bore for us, and the blood that covers us. Jesus felt forsaken when dying on the cross and cried out to His Father.
Matthew 27:45-46 45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[b]
Nothing any of us endure will ever compare to what He has endured for us!

Psalm 136:23-26

New King James Version (NKJV)
23 Who remembered us in our lowly state,
    For His mercy endures forever
24 And rescued us from our enemies,
    For His mercy endures forever;
25 Who gives food to all flesh,
    For His mercy endures forever.
26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
    For His mercy endures forever.

John 3:16  New King James Version (NKJV)16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Praising God this Blessed Easter weekend!

  1. I am thankful in the death of your mom that His glory has shown so brightly in so many of her children. Only God knew Julia - that years later, so many of her children and grandchildren (you included) have touched my heart. Through the fire of it all those that are a part of my heart, I see you have such gift of love for Him and others, compassion, empathy, mercy, and most important joy. You all smile with your hearts - because of His glory.
